After School Program
At Big and Tiny we understand that children are meant to learn through play. Our 2 hour drop-off After Preschool program is designed to inspire creativity and enhance fine motor skills while introducing new science and language literacy concepts. Lessons will focus on letter recognition and writing, phonics, numbers and counting, science and languages. Children will explore writing in shaving cream and chalk, make alphabet letters out of playdough, and learn new words in Spanish through music.
Each day, children will be immersed in a 2-hour session divided into the following areas:
Language Skills, Literacy and Math. The ability to speak, listen, draw, and understand is the basis of literacy. Immersing your little ones in colorful and stimulating conversations will boost their interest in letters, numbers, and words. Through tracing, word/number games, coloring, and drawing they will begin to learn the connection between letters/numbers on a page and spoken sounds.
Socialization. Forming friends are powerful. Introducing your little one to friends at this age is where they begin to share stories and negotiate over toys. Through collective projects, storytime, sing-a-longs, and imaginative play they will begin to form sentences that reflect their thoughts and emotions.
Fine motor skills. Fine and gross motor skills are still imperative for a 3-5 year old. Developing their fine motor skills will be the basis for writing their names and more! Exposure to experiences such as folding paper, drawing/tracing circles, holding crayons, and turning pages will prep them for penmanship.
